چکیده

High sensitivity detectors for radon in air and in water have been developed. We use electrostatic collection and a PIN photodiode for these detectors. Calibration systems have been also constructed to obtain collection factors. As a result of the calibration study, the absolute humidity dependence of the radon detector for air is clearly observed in the region less than about 1.6 g/m3. The calibration factors of the radon detector for air are 2.2$0.2 (counts/day)/(mBq/m3) at 0.08 g/m3 and 0.86$0.06 (counts/day)/(mBq/m3) at 11 g/m3. The calibration factor of the radon detector for water is 3.6$0.5 (counts/day)/(mBq/m3). The background level of the radon detector for air is 2.4$1.3 counts/day. As a result, one standard deviation excess of the signal above the background of the radon detector for air should be possible for 1.4 mBq/m3 in a one-day measurement at 0.08 g/m3. شبیه سازی یک آشکارساز تناسبی میکرو نواری برای آشکارسازی گاز رادن و دختران با کد مونت کارلو (MCNPX)

Many detection methods have been applied to detect radon gas. Due to the low noise and high resolution of gas detectors compared to semiconductor detectors or scintillation detectors, using them to detect alpha radiation is very considerable. Microstrip proportional detector is also included in this group and it has not been used for the detection of radon. In this article, response of the micr...

مطالعه غلظت رادن‌ در محیط‌های مسکونی شهرستان طارم-زنجان

Background and Objective: Radon is highly regarded because of its impacts on public health. Northern regions of Iran have a high potential for radon emissions. This research aimed to measure residential radon concentrations in Tarom country- Zanjan and to compare the results with international standards and acceptable values. Materials and Methods: Passive diffusive samplers, Solid State Nuc...

Comparative Measurements of Radon Concentration in Soil Using Passive and Active Methods in High Level Natural Radiation Area (HLNRA) of Ramsar

Background: Radon and its daughters are amongst the most important sources of natural exposure in the world. Soil is one of the significant sources of radon/thoron due to both radium and thorium so that the emanated thoron from it may cause increased uncertainties in radon measurements. Recently, a diffusion chamber has been designed and optimized for passive discriminative measurements of rado...

Sensitivity to Thoron on Passive Radon Detectors

INTRODUCTION Although a lot of studies on radon have been done for a long time, there are few reports on thoron. It was considered that the presence of thoron could be negligible because of its own quantity compared to that of radon. However, recent studies have shown high thoron levels in our living environment (1-4). In particular, high thoron concentrations were occasionally observed in some...

Measurement of Contemporary and Retrospective Radon Concentration in Ramsar Dwellings Using Polycarbonate Detector

The origins of radon gas are the amount of uranium decay in the soil that is released into space and through the interior gaps of  buildings. Radon can enter the respiratory system and cause radiation hazards. Recently research has identified Radon as the second leading cause of lung cancer after cigarette smoking. The indoor concentration of Radon progeny is mentioned as an important issue reg...
